Yin Yu（于音）is interested in exploring the potential of multimedia interactive environments and the relationship between architecture and music through the emerging technologies in contemporary art/architecture practice. Her goal is to broaden the relationship between human beings and the built space by redesigning the environment inspired by music. Application areas include architecture, fashion, performance, public space, social behavior, and interaction design. She also specialized in interdisciplinary pedagogy and curriculum design at the college level for interdisciplinary education.
Her works ranged from product design, electronic hardware design and manufacturing, furniture design, and interior architecture design. Yin has won several awards including Oregon BEST Red List Design Challenge, Academic Excellence Design & Paper, and is the recipient of Lyman & Judith Johnson Interior Architecture Award, Nascence & UO Hong Kong Alumni Scholarship.
Yin has worked with leading firms such as AECOM (Fortune 500 Global No.1 Design Firm), BENOY (Europe Top 50 UK Design Firm), Optoplex (Top 13 in Fast 50 Program for Silicon Valley Telecommunication), Group 70 International (Hawaii Top 3 Architecture Design Firm). She has also worked with Prof. James Tice on a Getty funded research project at Rome Urban Research Lab.
Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Media Arts and Technology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering, and a Master of Science in Information Technology, and a Master of Science in Interior Architecture.
